Maintenance Tips: Winter Care for Your UTV
Share This Blog

Winter is on its way, if it hasn't already arrived in your area. While many of us tend to hibernate and limit our exposure to the elements, some dare to venture outside, enjoying the crisp, cool air with their Intimidator UTV. Winter is an amazing time to enjoy riding off-road. There are many thrills and wonderful benefits to being out and about, but before you go, here are a few tips to make sure you are prepared:

The first thing to do is to make sure your Intimidator is properly serviced.

  • Check the oil level.

  • Change the oil and filter if necessary (consider using a cold-weather oil).

  • Use a fuel conditioner.

  • Replace the air filter.

  • Make sure the battery is fully charged.

  • Tires should be properly inflated (do not over inflate your tires, especially in the winter).

Once your side by side is ready, make sure you have some basic supplies on hand when you’re out on the trails. A basic first aid kit is a must. It’s also important to wear layers and take along a blanket or quilt. Here are some other things to consider having on hand:

  • Matches and supplies to start a fire

  • Water

  • Food

  • Extra blanket and/or extra clothing

  • Cell phone, radio, or some sort of communication device

  • GPS (some GPS units come with SOS technology for added safety)

  • Shovel

  • Tow strap

  • Hand warmers

An additional accessory to consider is a heater—Bad Dawg Accessories carries a system for the GC1K. If you have any questions about winterizing your Intimidator or ordering accessories to keep enjoying your ride in the cold, give your local dealer a call!
